Sea Meet — Privacy Policy

Sea Meet (“Sea Meet”, “we”, “us”) provides a mobile app that helps cruise passengers connect with other passengers on the same sailing. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

Sea Meet is intended for adults aged 18 and over. By creating an account or using the app, you confirm that you are at least 18 and agree to this policy.

1. Information we collect

We collect only what we need to operate the app. Categories below match the App Privacy Details we declare in the Apple App Store and Google Play.

What we do NOT collect: your credit card number, bank details, contact list, location, microphone audio, health data, or contents from other apps. Apple or Google handles payment; we never see your card.

2. How we use your information

We do not use your information for advertising, do not sell your information, and do not share your information with data brokers.

3. How we share your information

3.1 With other users

The information you put on your profile (name, age, gender, photos, bio, interests, ship and sailing date) is visible to other Sea Meet users on the same cruise(s) when your profile is set to visible. Your email address, sign-in method, device identifier, and IP address are never shown to other users.

3.2 With service providers (data processors)

We use the following providers to run the app. They may only handle your data on our instructions and under written privacy commitments:

3.3 For legal reasons

We may disclose information when we believe in good faith that disclosure is required to comply with a law, regulation, court order, or to protect the safety, rights, or property of users or the public.

3.4 Business transfers

If Sea Meet is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

You have the following controls inside the app:

Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to access, correct, or request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to restrict or object to certain processing, and to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the email below and we will respond within the time required by applicable law.

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to deletion, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell your personal information.

7. Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time directly inside the app:

  1. Open Sea Meet and go to Me → Account → Delete account.
  2. Choose a reason and confirm.

Once you confirm, your profile is removed from the Discover feed immediately, your photos and bio are stripped, and you are signed out. Most data is removed within 30 days. We retain a small tombstone record (your account id, deletion timestamp, and the reason you provided) to prevent abuse and to comply with legal obligations. We do not delete your underlying Firebase Authentication record so that:

If you cannot reach the in-app delete flow (for example, you lost access to the device), email us at the address below and we will honor your request manually.

8. Security

We use HTTPS for all network traffic between your device and our servers. Passwords are hashed by Firebase Authentication before they are stored. Access to user data inside our team is limited to people who need it to operate the app. No system is perfectly secure; if we ever experience a breach affecting your information, we will notify you in accordance with applicable law.

9. Children

Sea Meet is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us and we will delete the account.

10. International users

Sea Meet is operated from the United States. If you use the app from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. By using the app, you consent to that transfer.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Effective date” above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use of Sea Meet after the change becomes effective means you accept the updated policy.
